How to prepare my car for transport?
- Battery must be secure in the mounting bracket.
- Fuel tank should have between 1/8 and 1/4.
- All alarm systems must be disconnected, disabled, or turned off.
- Vehicle must be prepared for a new climate. This may include engine coolant, transmission oil, and other fluids.
- All antennas must be fully retracted or removed.
- Remove all accessories that are not built in such as CD or DVD players, car phones, garage door openers, etc.
- Remove all personal belongings (except standard vehicle items such as the jack and spare tire). The Department of Transportation does not allow personal (household) items to be transported on auto carriers. Neither liability nor cargo insurance covers claims on personal items.
- All exterior spare tire covers, grill covers, car covers, luggage racks, bike racks, etc. must be removed.
- Plants and hazardous materials are forbidden by law to be transported.
- Vehicle must be clean in order to perform a proper inspection.
What is a vehicle inspection?
- Vehicle inspections will be done at pickup and delivery to ensure that the vehicles condition has not changed or if it has, that it has been documented.
- Ensure that the vehicle is clean at pickup in order to perform a proper inspection.
- You or a designated representative must be present at pickup and delivery to sign the inspection sheet.
- The driver will leave a copy of the inspection sheet with the pickup and delivery representatives.
- If there is a discrepancy between the vehicles condition at pickup and delivery, be sure it is noted on the inspection and signed by your representative and the driver. Then call Road Warriors immediately at (402) 891-7138 and see "What should I do if my vehicle arrives with damage?"
What insurance information should I know?
- Road Warriors holds $1,000,000 combined single limit liability and $350,000 cargo insurance to cover any cargo damage done to your vehicle in transit. Your insurance covers all acts of God (hail, tornadoes, earthquakes, rock slides, etc.).
- You should never pay for a carrier's deductible! If cargo insurance is covering the damage, the carrier is responsible for the deductible, not you.
- Upon written request, we will send you Road Warriors verification of insurance with complete details of the driver's specific coverage. Road Warriors is fully licensed and bonded.
What should I do if my vehicle arrives with damage?
- First, be sure the driver understands that the damage is new and was not on the original inspection sheet.
- Clearly mark the damage on the inspection sheet and be sure it is signed by you and the driver.
- Before the driver leaves, call Road Warriors at (402) 891-7138.
- Take pictures of the damage immediately and send them to Road Warriors at solutions@rdwarriors.com.
- Obtain three repair estimates and send them to Road Warriors. Once Road Warriors reviews the estimates, we will request that you take the vehicle in for repairs. To find us on the Better Business Bureau website, go to www.bbb.org.
- Written claims and estimates must be received by our office within 5 days of delivery and specify the delivery date, year, make, model, and VIN of the vehicle.
- No damage claims will be accepted if the discrepancy is not marked on the inspection sheet and reported by phone at the time of delivery.
- All claims must be computed at actual cost under the provisions of the Motor Carrier Act.
- Claims will not be accepted on muffler or exhaust systems over two years old, from acts of God, damages caused by loading or unloading disabled vehicles, or leaking fluids.
Should I use a broker?
- Road Warriors is quite different than most auto transportation companies. We have our own equipment and drivers plus over 3,000 partner companies that provide services. We only use select partners that are fully licensed, insured, and have a good name in the industry. Working as a team allows us to provide you with unmatched service.
- Please note that almost all brokers require a deposit before your vehicle is picked up. Road Warriors does not require a deposit!
How does Auto Transport work?
- Once you hire Road Warriors, you will be given pickup and delivery windows. This window is an estimated date of pickup or delivery, exact times cannot be guaranteed due to many variables in the process such as weather, Department of Transportation requirements, other pickups and deliveries, maintenance issues, and many other factors.
- Road Warriors will call you 24 hours in advance of pickup and again 24 hours in advance of delivery. It is imperative that we have a phone number to reach you at throughout the process.
- At the time of pickup, the driver will arrive, inspect the vehicle, require your signature on the inspection and leave a copy with you, load the vehicle, and depart for its destination. The reverse happens at the time of delivery. Be sure to inspect the vehicle with the driver. Remember Road Warriors never requires a deposit and cash payments need to be authorized by Road Warriors in advance.
- If no one is present at the delivery location, the vehicle may be put into storage at the owner's expense.
- The length of transport also depends on the same variables influencing the pickup and delivery windows. Road Warriors will keep in touch throughout the process and will provide the best estimate possible.
- We try to offer door-to-door service as much as possible. This means the driver will get as close to your door as they legally and safely can. Many cities have restrictions on large trucks that prohibit them from driving into residential areas. Auto transport trucks are up to 75 feet long and need a lot of room to maneuver. We will do our best to accommodate your situation at the time you place an order.
